Benjamin Harmon - Varsity Assistant Coach

Sports and physical education have been my life passion since before college and my life work since graduation. I believe in taking responsibility for my own health as well as the health of students. I believe there is a link between the foods we eat, the activities we participate in and the quality of our lives.

Teaching physical education runs through my veins. My father has been an elementary and middle school PE teacher for over thirty years. We share a love of lifelong fitness, and alternative workouts. As a child, I would spend my weekends at the gym creating obstacle courses with anything I could find. As an adult, one of my favorite things to do is take my niece to the gym and watch her explore, play, and come up with new activities.

I grew up in the state of Washington in the small of city of Bellingham where I attended college at Western Washington University, home of the Vikings! During college I was the goalie for the soccer team.  I also played for the men's volleyball team as a setter and opposite hitter. After I graduated from WWU, I moved to Seattle, WA where I continued to play volleyball competitively while teaching for LAUSD. The allure of sunny beaches and volleyball brought me to California where I now reside and hope to stay.
